| The Team at ITI honors the life of Robert (Bob) Secovnie Robert (Bob) Secovnie, the founder and Director of Insurance Training Institute, passed away on November 3rd, 2025 at his home in Valatie, NY. The Secovnie family wishes to extend their appreciation to all for their recent condolences, long-term support and friendships developed with Bob over the past 30 years. Bob began his insurance career going door-to-door selling and servicing industrial life insurance policies, proud to have been a Union insurance agent. Bob went on to work at the New York State Insurance Department, where he was involved with the development of the continuing education program. Bob left the Department in 1995 to open Insurance Training Institute and provide continuing education and pre-licensing courses across New York State. Under the original continuing education guidelines, every New York resident licensee was required to complete at least half of their 15 hours of education in a classroom setting. Many ITI customers remember Bob traveling to every corner of the State, stopping at each agency he passed, leaving behind a self-study course and scheduling a date to return and monitor their self-study course exams and deliver an 8-hour in-person course to help agents and brokers meet their CE needs. From Montauk to Malone, Albany to Buffalo, or Olean to Plattsburg, Bob drove his Cadillacs and Lincoln Town Cars to provide insurance professionals with access to courses to maintain their licenses. For many agents and brokers, Bob’s courses were the only options that did not require traveling long distances to major cities. Bob expanded his business early on with the help of many experienced professionals, but his collaboration with Long Island‘s Jim Halcrow made Insurance Training Institute a reliable statewide provider of continuing education for all New York professionals. Today, Bob's son Kevin manages the daily operations statewide, with Jim’s daughter, Melanie, providing the same level of personal service that Long Island agents and brokers have come to rely on. ITI continues to have many loyal customers because of Bob's commitment during those early years of the CE program. Bob’s legacy continues and the company he built remains a family-owned and family-operated small New York business. The Secovnie Family and the ITI Team will follow Bob's leadership and work to provide the very best to the industry that he truly loved and enjoyed. Thank you. |
